Happy Birthday to my dear Spousal Unit.
If I Should Fall Behind
We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walking a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walking a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me
Now everyone dreams of love lasting and true
Oh, but you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me
Oh, but you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me
Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Yeah, I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me

What a sweet post. We have a catch phrase for vacation, too. The song lyrics are good ones, especially as we never know what will happen tomorrow. True lovers care for each other throughout life. I hope we can continue hiking and walking together for a very long time - and you, too.
ReplyDeleteOh the wonderful Highline trail!! Did you get to see a Grizzly? The last time I hiked it was about 37 years ago. Still a great memory. And we saw a Griz! :) Kit
ReplyDeleteNo bears that day - as you know, the trail is very popular in the summer, and if I was a grizzly, I would choose another locale!
DeleteAngie!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I'm lovin it!
plus the inclusion of a Bruuuce Lyric for your SU on his bday <3 Wonderful!
Thank you, my dear! Whenever that song comes on in the house, we dance to it!
DeleteYup -- Keep on wearing that hat!! Now you're on vacation for sure!! ... And what about how wonderful it felt the first time you both realized that after a couple of weeks of 'vacation' you really really didn't have to go back ...
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated to the Spousal Unit -- keep on enjoying it all -- as I have no doubt whatsoever about you both doing!
I love that song/poem so much... the older I get the more....
Such a lovely post. Belated wishes to Man With Hat. :)
