Helping me check the trail camera |
According to information I received from one of my nieces, her son's second-grade class recently finished the story Flat Stanley. Originally, Jeff Brown wrote this tale about a boy who is flattened by a bulletin board and the many adventures he has while being flat. He even traveled to many places through the mail!

In order to maximize Flat Stanley’s experiences, it was suggested that we keep him no longer than two weeks. So I will shortly be chronicling his time in Montana, complete with the photos I have taken and a letter to describe them. The letter and Flat Stanley will travel back to school in Ohio, and it gives me great joy to think of the class studying the photos and reading about Montana. It's not hard to deduce that many grade-school classes are learning about geography, history and culture, all through the adventures of Flat Stanley. How cool is that?
Flat Stanley assisted with mailing Christmas cards; soon he will pass
through here himself on the way back to Ohio!

Welcome to Mosaic Monday, a weekly meme
where we get together to share our photo mosaics and collages.
Please include at least one photo mosaic/collage in your post.
The link will be open from 1 p.m. Sunday until 11 p.m. Monday (U.S. Mountain time).
Remember to add the link to your Mosaic Monday post and not the one to your blog.
Please link back to this post so that your readers will be able to visit and enjoy more wonderful mosaics; taking the MM blog button from my sidebar is an easy way to link back.
As host I will visit every participant and leave a comment so that you know I stopped by.
Please try and visit as many other blogs as you can, especially those that join in later, so that everyone's creativity can be appreciated fully.
Thank you for joining in today and sharing your mosaics with us.

Oh this was fun!! Loved seeing all the different places he went. I hope you are having a great season. We got a bunch of snow yesterday, so you know I was doing my happy dance. Baking cookies today. The season has been wonderful! 🎄⛄🎅🎇💕 Kit
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley seems to be an interesting project. Never hesrd before and read about in Wikipedia. We should excercise this here too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
Happy MosaicMonday
Flat Stanley had a great time with you and you kept him busy. Shame he has gone back to Ohio, he could have come out here to Aus for a visit.
ReplyDeleteYou do live in such a beautiful place. I have enjoyed all our trips to Montana. There is so much to see there! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteIt was good Stanley got to check out the post office before he begins his trip home! He’ll be more comfortable on travel day that way. Flat Stanley shared an RV with us for awhile once, as we traveled through North Carolina and Tennessee ... he went home to Oregon to our daughter and SILs and the sweet foster daughter who lived with them at the time. ... I’m sure your great nephew will be thrilled with his adventures (and will wish he could mail himself to beautiful Montana for a vacation). .... many thanks for hosting (and for the fun memories).
ReplyDelete...well I must say that Flat Stanley has never hit my radar screen, I'll have to ask my two young granddaughters!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Flat Stanley was having a blast and the photos were terrific as always.
ReplyDeleteOh how I remember Stanley. He went everywhere. Even rode a calf on the Ranch. What fun.

How fun Angie! The kids learn a lot seeing Flat Stanley's adventures! I wonder if anybody asked you what on earth are you doing when you were on the road with him? 😃
ReplyDeleteThe Flat Stanley is a way cool project, Angie. Such a fun way for your great nephew to learn about geography, as well as about you. I love that style of learning and teaching.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea of Flat Stanley and look forward to seeing his adventures. Happy travels!
ReplyDeleteDear Angie - What a nice idea Flat Stanley project is! I hadn’t known the character till I checked him out on the search engine. Children would be more motivated to introduce something with the familiar story character. I like how you quickly borrow the idea to contribute to the children’s learning in Ohio. Thanks a lot Flat Stanley for a good assist to Angie. The way how you decorate outside the house is so lovely. Wish you and your family a heart-warming Christmas and a healthy New Year. I’ll be back in 2020.

Hi! It's a nice project to learn geography for children. I am looking forward seeing his adventure. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Travels to Flat Stanley! A great idea to give kids a sense of how big our wonderful world is.
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley is welcome to visit Australia :-)
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley is new to me, Angie, but perhaps I have just not been very observant. The fact that I spend most of my time outdoors birding might have something to do with it!
ReplyDeleteI was about to add, when I hit publish prematurely that if someone is inclined to send Flat Stanley here, we would make sure he had a grand Canadian experience and would return him safely with a grand travelogue.
ReplyDeleteWell-groomed Flat Stanley is such a great idea and reminiscent of folks who take pictures of a favorite teddy bear or some such object wherever they travel. Wonderfully creative ideas abound and that is true of the Stanley character who has personality plus with that smile.
ReplyDeleteThat's so fun!
ReplyDeleteHello, I have seen Flat Stanley on another blog. It is a cool school project and to see all the places Flat Stanley is able to visit. I enjoyed your photos and the post. Have a happy day and a great new week!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to bring a travel mascot to take photos with. Stanley is nice and small..and flat. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley is a handsome fellow and so well-behaved that it would be a pleasure to take him anywhere. He's having fun in Montana, I see!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mosaic Monday
ReplyDeletemuch love...
I did enjoy meeting and seeing Flat Stanley … what a good idea this project is :)
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy days ahead.
All the best Jan
Hooray for Flat Stanley! I need to carry a model for my photos.
ReplyDeletea cute "thing" that i think many school children are doing!! i have been reading about flat people on Facebook and there was one at a christmas concert we recently attended!! the one we saw at the concert was a "flat gingerbread man"!!!
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley is fabulous! What a wonderful initiative to engage school children's interest in the big, wide world. I hope Flat Stanley enjoyed his stay in Montana!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to take Flat Stanley on a trip around our locales. We've enjoyed a few trips around the Seattle area with this flat breed. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he had a good time in Montana!
Favorite is the photo of your home outside decorated for Xmas ~ beautiful! ~ I participated in a Flat Stanley once ~ great fun! ~ Fun photos ^_^

Flat Stanley is a unique, love him, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThe Flat people were all the rage in blog land several years ago. It was a lot of fun. I might have had too much fun. I made flat people out of acquaintances of mine and had them in all sorts of compromising situations. All in fun, fun for me anyway.
ReplyDeleteAwww - Stanley does get around a bit! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea. This seems an inventive way to introduce children to the idea that just out there is a Big Wide World. I don't think Flat Stanley has made it big in the UK yet. At the moment it is all about Kevin The Carrot but I don't think hes so well travelled. I suggest Angie you patent Flat Stanley or at least provide us with a template that we can use to create our own Flat Stanley through a PC printer.
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley is cool, I never heard of him.
ReplyDeleteFlat Stanley is such a good idea and great for children (and adults too!) It looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed meeting Flat Stanley. Happy holidays!

Quite fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see/hear the back story to Flat Stanley. He's arrived at my place now so I'll be taking him out on the farm tomorrow!
