Can you believe it? May 3, 2020 marked the third anniversary of our arrival in Montana. (If you need a refresher on our epic cross-country journey, check out this post.) I perused my blog and came to the shocking realization that I have not written about this anniversary. You can read posts about the first, second and third recurrence of my retirement, but you will find zip, zero, zilch about an event that was a decade in the planning. Well, I ask you - what's more significant, the retirement or the destination? It's the destination, my friends. So, I am about to rectify this disappointing oversight. Buckle your seat belts, and welcome to Montana!

If you were counting, that was 32 pictures and collages. Boy, it was tough to choose! Someday, when I have nothing else to do (hah!), I will count the number of pictures I have taken since May 3, 2020. Hundreds! A shout-out to my Spousal Unit, who applied his ruthless editing skill to help me downselect from the original 93 options that I compiled. How appropriate that he stands out in the last photo of this post!

Hi Angie, hard to imagine that you have been living the good life in Montana for over 3 years, it must have been a challenge to find the photos which would best describe those precious years. I have been away far too long to catch up on all that has been happening in Montana but now that we have located back to UK I hope to be a weekly visitor from now on. Maggie Xxx

I was taken aback by the pic from Crater Lake...it makes perfect sense that there would be more than one but at first I thought you’d been to Oregon’s one and only National Park by that name )j. I think the pictures from “your” NP, Glacier, were my favorites of all the wonderful ones here. (And yes I really know and am really grateful that *all* the National Parks belong to *all* of us.

Happy Anniversary Angie. I can’t believe how those three years have rushed by. I well remember those early photos of your beginnings, the location, the plans and the sheer scale of the project. I must admit I thought you both heroic but probably partly mad!
You have many amazing photos there to remind us and of course yourself of the wonderful changes in seasons, the scenery and the wildlife you enjoy. Yes, you were right.

there are so many things i really loved about this post...you live in such a beautiful place. the landscapes, the view the flowers are just amazing!! i enjoyed the video of the moose, he was very curious!! dog sledding last year looks like so much fun!! i have enjoyed going back in time these days as we are still in our stay at home order!!
You are surrounded by so much natural beauty! I miss our "retirement" home in the mountains of New Mexico but not the snow. We moved to Florida to be near our youngest grandchildren but their family moved to Illinois before we even settled into our new home! We can at least look at our backyard lake when sheltered in place, but certainly cannot expect to see a moose!
In terms of the pictures we all accumulate I really have to start getting brutal. I have enormous numbers, and I mean that literally, of every aspect of nature, especially of birds, broken down into subsets, the vast majority of which I will never look at again. And if I count the hours I have spent downloading and editing it really becomes ridiculous. Add to that the time Miriam has spent with her pictures too and someone should have us tested for computer syndrome, far worse that Covid-19 perhaps! And after she has edited her pictures the job of classifying and assigning to folders falls to me. As a measure of how much time this can take, and how we really have to wean ourselves away from it, Miriam still has pictures on the camera from a visit to Australia in October 2018, that she has never downloaded. I suggested to her that she delete them. We don't know what's on there, but we haven't missed what we don't know, and I certainly don't need another twenty or thirty pictures of Sulphur-crested Cockatoo to classify and file! We rarely ever take pictures of each other or of other people so there is nothing to be lost there. In fact I think that some blogs are an exercise in narcissism, people use them purely as a vehicle to post pictures of themselves ad nauseam, interesting only to themselves, I suspect. Whew! That was a long comment!
Wow, what a post, fitting for three years. Beautiful house in a gorgeous setting and I love that you are living an active life. Such a collection of critters you are showing your space with as well. I guess I could put some trail cams out in greenspace behind our house but I am not sure that what they would record could be put on a family friendly blog post.
