My January 14 post was the last time I shared progress on the Christmas stocking for #1 Son - see the picture below.
On March 29, it looked like this:
Now, with 287 hours of love invested, I am putting the finishing touches in place. Outlining, details such as trees and grass. The most challenging element is stitching with the gold metallic thread for the sled and the edges of the ribbon - it's very fiddly!
My February 11 post featured a completed hexagon stitch-a-long. Today, I am happy to show you the framed piece, which now hangs in our guest bathroom! The experts at Michael's were invaluable in selecting the mat and the frame.
In the same post, I also described the process of selecting a pattern creator in order to develop a design of a wedding photo for #1 Daughter and our son-in-law. After some deliberation, I went with Gail at Busy B Crafts (creator of Stitch a Photo). She had offered so much free advice, and was also recommended by the owners of Shepherds' Bush, cross-stitch experts that I trust! This is the photo the couple chose.
#1 Daughter selected a Natural Rustico fabric - probably only a quarter of an inch will show around the final piece, which will be 11 x 14. I am very excited to start stitching once the stocking is complete!
I recently hosted a Munch and Make, and one of the attendees had a new quilt to share. She is a member of the Flathead Quilters' Guild, and its annual quilt show had just wrapped up. Below is a selection of the quilts that I saw at the 2024 Flathead Quilters' Guild Quilt Show.
Maker and Quilter: Lea White
Maker and Quilter: Marci Robman

Well, it's time to get back to my stitching!

Linking up with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color for I Like Thursday.
Prompt for this week is: Do you like hayrides? Tell us about one you experienced. I believe the last hayride would have been with the kids when they were young enough to actively participate in pumpkin hunting in an open field. I love those fall traditions when it can be enjoyed with extended family, even if they are all adults!

...I like the Double Wedding Band quilt!
ReplyDeleteA munch and make event sounds like loads of fun. You have creative friends!
ReplyDeleteLove all the artistry! Stitching means so much to me so thank you for a wonderful morning sipping coffee and reading all about stitching! Your work is beautiful! Can’t wait to see the wedding Crossstitch.
ReplyDeleteYour cross-stitching is so beautiful and so are those quilts!
ReplyDeleteThat cross stitch is beautiful. I love how it just appears from the blank canvas. That's a lot of work! That hexegon piece framed up so nicely! You must be pleased. Ooh - pretty quilts all around.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! Beautiful!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this "...with ### hours of love invested..." Not time wasted... love invested...
What beautiful handwork you do, Angie. Your cross stitch is lovely. What fun to attend a munch and make event.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That stocking is a lot of work. I finished a round stitched project probably about the same size as yours. I hope the framers here can do a round cut-out for the mat. Yours turned out great. I imagine the wedding project is gonna take some time, too. Nice choice of photo. I like those kinda of shots. Good to see you are still hosting the make and munch. Just had my bi-weekly craft meeting yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYour cross stitch projects are amazing! You do such beautiful work. I can't wait to see the wedding cross stitch piece. Such nice quilts! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteAngie, that sure is a whole lotta love invested in your son's Christmas stocking.....it's gorgeous. I do love the sound of 'Munch and Make'; sounds like fun. I live the Wedding Ring quilt. I can't wait to see the wedding photo in cross stitch. It is going to be amazing. With winter coming I imagine there will be lots of time spent in enjoying cross stitching.
ReplyDeleteDear Angie, I see a lot of love here, expressed with the help of needle and thread. I am not an embroiderer (my "drug" is crocheting 😅), I could never have estimated how many hours of work went into such an stitching opus as the Christmas stocking for son no. 1 - but I can see the love. Your other stitching work also looks very professional - and I am already looking forward to your Stitch a Photo project, it sounds (to me) very difficult to embroider this beautiful wedding photo. What beautiful works you show us from the quilting ladies - there is breathtaking skill in the works!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, happy Mosaic Monday and happy October days, Traude

It's so fun to see your cross-stitch projects! The stocking for your son is really special, and I love how the hexagon project finished up, too. Looking forward to seeing more of the wedding photo project!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your stitching projects. They're inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI have made one of the quilts that you show a double wedding ring with applique years ago and one I have a pattern for - your stitching looks great!
ReplyDeleteYour cross stitch is beautiful Angie, Love the wedding photo idea. Your hexagons look stunning framed. So many beautiful quilts at the Quilt show.
ReplyDeleteI find that I get the best results with gold filiment floss when I use beeswax thread conditioner. What a beautiful cross-stitch memory that photo is going to become. I took a silouhette photo of my daughter and her husband and added it to the wedding announcment that I stitched for them. Those quilts are beautiful. I love the geometric ones.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your cross stitch is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilts you've shared too.
Wishing you happy October days.
All the best Jan

I'm replying late this week, it was turbulent after our trip. The coming days will be easier again...
ReplyDelete...yes, I admire your stitching work so much, dear Angie. I couldn`t this. I love Quilts. Years before we had a fine exhibition in our Textil-Museum in Augsburg (= the TIM)!
I'm very happy about the contribution to MosaicMonday again, thank you for that. Kind regards from Heidrun
ReplyDeleteDear Angie – I love your fabulous cross-stitch. The patterns on each quilt is beautiful and interesting. You always look engaged in something creative or adventurous – you’re so active and talented.

Wow, Wow, and WOW!!! Your stocking turned out fabulous. What a gift of love, all those hours. I used to like to knit and or crochet while watching tv, but I find now my eyes won't let me do tha. The hexie's burned fabulous. The frame is perfect for it. Will enjoy seeing your wedding stitching project come along.
ReplyDeleteI always look at people who can make such things with awe and respect, as myself is not at all crafty. But I made a note at the beginning when you mentioned watching football (I'm a football fan!) and stitching. Wishing you permanent inspiration!
