Mosaic Monday #24: No Hurry

All's calm at Lake McDonald - Glacier National Park
In Northwest Montana, this time of year is often referred to as a "shoulder season," a quiet time in between bouts of tourists - those that arrive in winter for skiing/other winter entertainment, and those that flock to the area in summer to visit Glacier National Park.

I find myself in that lull; our employment as Mountain Ambassadors has come to an end for the season, and yet it's too soon for many of our summer activities.  And when presented with ample time, less seems to get done.  "I have plenty of time for that," the thinking goes.

Then I heard this Zac Brown song on the radio.  It captures my sentiment completely.  Jettison the "to do" list, folks, and relish some life in the slow lane.

NO HURRY

Forget the dirty car, bills, cleaning and laundry!
You know my old car needs washing

And the front yard needs a trim

And the telephone keeps ringing

And the bossman knows I know its him

And the bills ain't gonna pay themselves

No matter anyway
'Cause I ain't in no hurry today

Stitching and American Idol by candlelight
There's nothing wrong with an old cane fishing pole

And the smell of early spring

Sit down in a fold-up easy chair

On a quiet shady river bank

Let the world go on without me

Wouldn't have it any other way

'Cause I ain't in no hurry today

Sweet Peaks Salted Caramel Ice Cream
Neighborhood sky (and more stitchin')
Ain't in no hurry

I'd be a fool now to worry

About all those things I can't change

And the time that I borrow

Can wait till tomorrow

'Cause I ain't in no hurry today

A little night-time reading
More stitchin'
Cocktails at Spotted Bear Distillery
When I must return

To the cold cold ground

Have 'em take their time

When they lay this sinner down

Heaven knows that I ain't perfect

I've raised a little cain

And I plan to raise a whole lot more

Before I hear those angels sing

(Gonna get right with the Lord)

But there'll be hell to pay

Coffee and cake doodles; Bird-watchin' with Maggie the Cat
Clockwise: Ruffed Grouse; American Robin; Turkey; Flicker
But I ain't in no hurry
Ain't in no hurry
Be a fool now to worry
About all those things I can't change
And the time that I borrow
Can wait till tomorrow
'Cause I ain't in no hurry
Ain't in no hurry
Ain't in no hurry today

  3. It seems to me there's a whole lot of lazy days and goings on happening at your place. Why, I wouldn't mind sitting on that river bank on a fold-up easy chair, listening to the sounds and drinking in all that glorious landscape. Nope....I wouldn't mind at all. Happy Easter to you♥

  7. I have learned to be lazy with years - when younger I was always in a hurry doing something :) Thank you for this lovely country song. Wishing happy Easter Monday.

  9. On the contrary to your place, it is one of the busiest time in all Japan. School year and fiscal year starts in April. Tourism is the busiest along with autumn. As for myself, I was restless like many other Japanese with the bloom of cherry blossoms. Thankfully my nerve pain has subsided gradually, I could go out to admire and taste the beauties of the blooms while mostly slowing down. Nerve pain seems to take long time to heal on its own but I’m almost getting over it with Vitamin 12. I like your way of spending slow time as is shown in the lovely mosaics.

  11. What a great song, Angie! I like the sentiments it expresses... I need to take heed as I usually rush around like the proverbial "chook without a head"!
I hope you had a great Easter!

  13. Oh my! I wonder if I can remember enough of the words to sing that song today! I hurry through my chores to do the things I want to do at this time of year. It's perfect weather for hiking here but the hot temps will come soon! Love your photos. I'll clean when it's too hot to go outside! lol Happy MM!

  16. Fun song. It's so true about having more time on your hands and getting less accomplished. I've also noticed that restaurants/wait staff are a lot more efficient when they are more crowded. I'm way behind which is becoming my new song.

  17. We've got the rest of our life to get things done. But, I did get our laundry done today. :-) Hi, Angie. I love your happy doodles and stitching.

  19. Yep. That's my sort of philosophy too. All these folks rushing around, driving on my bumper (fender - impressed?) as if it's there's no tomorrow. Those pictures fit the story so well Angie. Enjoy the rest of your week. Happy belated Easter to you and yours Angie.

  25. Sorry Angie, no mosaic - Monday went by too fast with replying to the all Seasons-ers:) Thank you for your comment on the doll post. Only one of my two girls is a doll girl. The other could care less, lol. How neat that you are saving your daughter's dolls for her daughter(s)
I am also saving my son's little cars, in case he later will get married and will have a son. Meanwhile, my two youngest grand daughters play with them, because we have a long hall with a wooden floor- perfect:).

  26. Seems to me that I am busy relaxing! Since I retired I have been immersed in many activities and ai am certainly busy, but I enjoy it all immensely so it could perhaps be considered relaxation too.

  27. What a lot of fun Angie .... obviously I wasn’t in any hurry to read your lovely blog nor to say thank you as always! I do say it mentally when I link, but don’t always have time at that moment to fully enjoy yours ... and then I forget to come back. I’m so glad I remembered and so glad I had time to savor your “down time” ... which is pretty much how I live my life these days, only not as productively!

  32. I've never heard that tune but the words are great!! I like to be organized, but I don't think that counts as being 'in a hurry' as I do like to enjoy things as they happen.

  33. Never heard the song either. I'm the same - the less time I have, the more I get done :-)
